Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a spiral galaxy located 70 million light years away in the constellation of Aquila at a declination of -7 degrees.  It spans 1 arc-minute in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of only 30,000 light years.

This galaxy has a fascinating structure.  I believe it is a Magellanic galaxy.  It has many of the Magellanic characteristics – off-center white bar, blue star formation areas, and a small size.  The arm(s) twist around in an incomprehensible way, looking like a figure-8 ribbon.
